This is the healthiest and best tasting cranberry sauce you will ever make! It is also very easy to make and won’t take up much of your time. A great addition to any Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner. It uses fresh cranberries, which makes a huge difference. Way better than any of the canned stuff. This healthy cranberry sauce recipe uses medjool dates as a sweetener. You can use other dates too but medjool have a softer flesh and blend into the sauce easy. This cranberry sauce stays good for several days, so it’s perfect for making ahead of time. Keep in an airtight container in the fridge and warm it up in a pan before serving it. Your family and friends will adore this sauce and will love the fact even more that it’s sugar free. Perfect for kids and anyone who is watching their sugar intake. If you happen to have leftovers, you can use it for your peanut butter jelly sandwiches the next day. But very likely you won’t have any leftovers after the holidays, it’s just so good!


  • 8 oz (234g) dates, medjool

  • ½ cup water

  • ½ cup orange juice, freshly squeezed

  • ¼ tsp cinnamon

  • ⅛ tsp allspice

  • 12 oz (340g) cranberries, fresh

Sugar Free Cranberry Sauce


  1. Put dates and water in a pot. Bring to a boil. Put on a tight fitting lid, take off the stove and let it soak for 5 -10 minutes.

  2. Once soaked, put the dates in a blender and mix until you have a smooth paste. 

  3. Keep the water (that you used for soaking the dates) in the pot, add the date paste, orange juice and spices and whisk it until it is well combined. 

  4. Now add the fresh cranberries and bring to a simmer. Cook on low/medium heat for about 10 minutes.

  5. Serve warm.
