Coconut Sour Cream

This is a nutrient dense dairy free sour cream recipe. Canned coconut cream and raw cashews are being used for the cream base. Fresh lemon juice and apple cider vinegar give it a sour zest. Read on to learn how to make vegan sour cream.


  • ½ cup cashews, raw, soaked for 2 hours and drained

  • 1 can (13.5 z or  400 ml) coconut milk, full fat, cream only

  • 3 tbsp lemon juice, fresh

  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar

  • 2 tbsp olive oil, melted

  • ¼ tsp onion powder

  • ½ tsp salt


  1. In a blender, combine all ingredients and puree until completely smooth. 

  2. Transfer to a container, cover and let it set for at least 24 hours.
