Buckwheat Porridge

Do your kids like buckwheat? The flavor of buckwheat is a little earthy, nutty and can taste very bitter. Lots of kids will naturally dislike those flavors and decline a dish with buckwheat. This recipe turned the bitter buckwheat into a sweet and tasty meal. The prunes and apples along with the spices give this porridge the perfect natural sweetness. Sprinkle with diced pecans and you have a perfectly balanced meal the whole family can enjoy.
Ingredients:
1 cup buckwheat
4 cups water
3 cups apples, diced
1 cup prunes, diced
½ tsp cinnamon
Directions:
Add all ingredients in a pot and bring to a boil.
Bring to a boil and simmer on low for 15 min simmer with lid.
Remove the lid and simmer for another 10-15 minutes stirring occasionally to avoid burning on the bottom.
If you like it sweeter, add homemade apricot jam.
